The Valorous Circle Podcast: Top Five Takeaways
If you missed the original interview, our CEO Aiden Silvers recently got the chance to hang out with Jonathan Mast on the Valorous Circle Podcast. We highly recommend giving the podcast a listen since the topics ranged from valuable business advice to the epic work of art that is Jonathan’s beard. However, if you don’t have the time, or prefer to read the content you consume, here are the main takeaways from the interview:
1. Focus on building relationships and bringing value to others.
Throughout the interview, this was a common topic that kept coming up. The takeaway here applies to various different business and life scenarios, but Jonathan said it best when he stated, “If you’re abundance-minded and focusing on value, opportunities come back to you in spades.” If you’re a business owner looking for new clients or simply attempting to retain the clients you have, the answer is simple, continue to build your relationship and bring value. Using this strategy can also help content creators to win across various social media platforms. This is especially true of TikTok, since the algorithm is geared towards content preferences, instead of creator preferences
.How did Aiden recently obtain a podcast interview with the one and only Gary Vaynerchuk? He spent years consuming his content, and having small interactions with Gary in live chats, until eventually they had enough of a history for him to feel confident enough to request a podcast interview. But that didn’t happen overnight. It took time, effort, and patience to build that relationship. Aiden best summed it up when he explained that it took him ten years to become an overnight success.
2. Be yourself.
Authenticity wins every single time. Whether you are a content creator, a very tall gentleman with an iconic beard, or a CEO operating from a bed. Not only do your unique characteristics define who you are, but they also help you to stand out in the crowd. Perhaps one of Aiden’s most important points in this interview was related to living your life for other people. Do those people control your life or contribute to it in any way? If not, then why are you worried about getting a fancy car to make an impression on others? The only person you have to impress at the end of the day is yourself. That mentality will lead to true freedom and happiness.
3. Close the door on being closed-minded.
When asked what piece of advice Aiden would give his 18-year-old self, he reflected on his inability to take the advice of others from a young age. As he developed and grew his business, this mentality has starkly changed. While he still likes to investigate things thoroughly himself, his exposure to experts in the industry has given him valuable insights and advice, the kind that have changed the course of his business. Where did he find these experts? He joined a mastermind group for digital marketing agency owners and has since met countless helpful, likeminded individuals, including Jonathan. If you catch the podcast you’ll hear the two discussing the monumental impact the group has had on each of their companies.
But if you’re not an agency owner, what can you learn from this? It’s simple. Find the experts in your industry. Look for the people who are accomplishing the goals that you have set for yourself. Once you find them, take their advice seriously and use it to execute your vision.
4. Everyone is in marketing.
Whether you are an electrician, or a roofer, or a landscaper, or a chef, you are at the end of the day, still in marketing. It is your job to market your business and your services, connect with your clients, demonstrate your value, all while creating content at scale. This means that you may need to step out of your comfort zone and connect with your audience on social media platforms you do not prefer. Aiden highlighted the power of “satisfying videos” on TikTok. People love watching certain types of content and pressure washers for example, have the unique capability to create content that people find oddly satisfying to watch. As a result, if a pressure washer avoids creating TikTok content, they are losing out on tons of potential to speak to their target audience and showcase their work.
5. Position yourself for success.
How do you do this? Remain open to exciting learning experiences, unique opportunities, and new relationships that can help you to grow. This entire podcast came about based on a relationship built through an agency group. If you focus on being positive and providing value to everyone you encounter, the possibilities are truly endless. Aiden and Jonathan, their friendship, and many others in their inner circle are a testament to this idea.
